Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  

Sugar Cookie Dough

  • 1/4 cup flour (125g)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (50g)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold butter (diced) (75g)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp milk

Royal Icing

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup icing sugar (120g)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar

Instructions
 

Sugar Cookie Dough

  • Combine flour, sugar and salt in a bowl
  • Mix in butter for 1 minute just until it starts to crumble
  • Add milk and vanilla extract (or any other flavor)and mix it until a dough forms
  • Cover dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes
  • Roll on a floured surface, cut shapes and return to fridge while the oven preheats
  • Bake at 180*C for 12 minutes

Royal Icing

  • Beat egg white until foamy
  • Add sugar in increments until combined
  • Add vanilla, salt and cream of tartar and mix until creamy
  • Divide batter in containers and add color of choice
  • For thicker consistency, add more sugar
  • For thinner consistency, add 1 tsp of water at a time
